Last month, I went to a UploadVR Meetup held at the Unity offices showcasing exciting Unity virtual reality demos. Lines were as long as those for Disneyland rides. I did manage to try demos by Leap Motion, Matterport, Stem System and Faceshift. My favorite demo was playing as a Star Wars Jedi in the Stem System game.
I was really impressed with the progress in the virtual reality community, and ordered an Oculus Rift DK2. Virtual reality easily displays 3D better than a flat screen can. The Oculus came in this past week, and we at Trnio finished a quick demo. We used Unity 4.5 and integrated it with the Oculus SDK. The entire process is straight-forward.
While Trnio is focused on 3D scans, it's always great to play with new methods of viewing 3D. Virtual reality is not quite there, but it's day is coming soon. Below are links showing how your Trnio scans will look in it. Right now, these are only built for the DK2.
